These corset patterns are based on your individual measurements, not on an average. Therefore, the finished piece will be the most comfortable and effective corset you can find! You are involved in the process from the first, choosing the style, the fabric and any options with our experienced seamstresses. We will then draft a muslin fabric pattern that you can try on, laced and boned like the final corset. Any necessary changes can be made to the muslin, and you can get an idea of what the final shape will be like. The muslin is made into a final paper pattern and the corset is then cut, sewn, boned and laced.

All custom corsets are made from three layers of fabric and boned with two pieces of ¼" spring steel per seam. The waistline is reinforced with grosgrain ribbon, and the back lacing panel has two-piece grommets for strength. Custom corsets may be made all from the same material or you may pick a contrasting color for the bone casings and trim. See our Custom Corset Photos for inspiration!

Custom corsets are drafted to be snug at the ribs and hip and to only constrict the waist. The overbust corsets support the bust so a bra is not necessary unless desired. See FAQ's: "What is the difference between 'off the rack' and 'custom' corsets?" for more information on fit. We have updated traditional corset shapes to fit today's bodies more comfortably - our patterns are loosely based on historical pieces. If you would like a period corset, we would love to create a more traditional shape for you!

Scheduling:
Custom work requires an initial meeting to discuss style, fabric and options. A deposit of $100 is required at this time. A second appointment is then made (usually within 2 - 4 weeks) for the muslin fitting. We will also determine a finish date at this time.
